Saturday 3rd September saw Birmingham Sky Blues 55's(ish) tackle Solihull Moors at Brick Kiln Lane. Predictably, the opening exchanges were tight - no quarter was asked for or given, and the ball was moving around at a pace typical of a local derby. Birmingham Sky blues opened the scoring when Shand tuned and converted from a free kick played through by Paul Ivey. Soon after, Foxy finished well on the right hand side following a sweeping Sky Blues move. Moors pulled a goal back from an equally impressive move before the on fire Foxy scored from a tight angle to restore the two goal cushion. The ball was being moved around at an incredible pace by both teams. Just before the 30 minute mark, Moors pulled another goal back. The pace of the game was relentless and while the Sky blues were dominating the game, it was a well-matched contest. A tidy finish from Paul Ivey restored the two goal lead briefly, only for Moors to grab one back straight from the kick off. As the game entered the latter stages, the fast pace continued, and Andy Cook finished well to maintain the lead. The keepers from both teams were involved in keeping the score down, with chances and great saves at both ends. There were two goals left in the game, one for each side and the pick came from Paul Murtagh who finished well from 15 yards after striding powerfully through midfield. Final score 6-4 to Birmingham Sky Blues. Next Fixture Saturday 17th September KO 12.30PM.
